Odinga questioned who could be behind the abductions, pointing out that handcuffs, used in these incidents, are usually only available to police officers. He called the acts “primitive” and said such things should not happen in a democratic country. He urged the government to protect all citizens.

President Ruto has promised to address the problem and stop the kidnappings. He also asked parents to keep a closer eye on their children and take responsibility for their safety.

Despite the promises, many Kenyans remain worried. Human rights groups and activists have held protests in major towns, demanding action and justice. Reports say over 80 people have been abducted since June 2024, with more than 10 cases in December alone. Many of those taken are thought to be critics of the government, raising concerns about human rights abuses.

The rising number of disappearances has put pressure on the government to act quickly and ensure the safety of everyone in the country. Families and activists are calling for clear answers and justice for the victims.
