Tusker FC and Kenyan national team goalkeeper Patrick Matasi has been handed a 90-day suspension by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) amid allegations of match-fixing. The FKF announced the decision on March 27, 2025, as part of an ongoing investigation involving FIFA, CAF, and other regulatory bodies.
Kenya has faced persistent match-fixing scandals, with past reports highlighting the lack of a legal framework to prosecute such offenses. According to a 2021 Africa Press report, the country has struggled to curb football corruption, making Matasi’s case a significant test of the FKF’s commitment to maintaining fair play and integrity in the sport.
Matasi, who made his Harambee Stars debut in 2017 and last played for the national team in 2024, remains under investigation despite no public evidence linking him directly to match manipulation. The FKF has emphasized that the probe is crucial to protecting the credibility of Kenyan football.
